I think this town needs a skatepark. We have kids in this town that want one very badly and i am one of them myself. I hope that this town can build the kids of stewartsville a public skatepark to go to and have fun. Many kids and my freinds have said "This town is boring. We need a skatepark!" So what do you say huh? PLEASE!

I think there should be a skate park in town and a roller hockey park also ,enough kids play in the street and a league could be good for the town.
I agree! My name is Tom Callari and I work on the AD Hoc recreation Committee in stewartsville. We are trying to build new fields and other great stuff in town.
I think a skate park is great. P'burg has one and they got a grant from Tony Hawk's foundation. I happen to know Jen O'brien and her husband Bob Burquist (both professional skate boarders). I will ask them what we can do to get the ball rolling on a skatepark for us. Maybe they can help.
I grew up surfing and boarding and I would even enjoy it--so will my kids.

I know this post is old but I was clicking around .... So did the park ever come to be?
My community fought tooth and nail to keep one from coming into our park thinking it would bring in a bad element. In the end it has proven to be one of the best things that happened for kids here. The area has set hours and is well supervised with older people who also skate and do amazing things on bikes.

I vaguely remember back about the time Target was just being built there was talk in the paper about a skate park being planned for Stewartsville but it was shot down because of the cost of insurance and fears of injury.
I agree, this town is "boring" for kids. If they can't find something to keep their interest in their own town, they start to wander in order to find something fun to do, sometimes leading to trouble. We want to keep our children safe and out of harm's way but we need to realize they need to keep their minds and their interests occupied by providing activities they enjoy. There is a ball field but not all children are interested in sports such as baseball, football and soccer. Instead, they have to resort to "hanging out" in parking lots, at the mall and in front of Wal-Mart.
This message board has many postings about the adults and their activities, concerns, interests and what we'd like to see in the town but how about what the kids would like and what can be done for them? Do we let them stay on the streets or do we provide someplace for them to gather and have fun? What is the answer and how can it be accomplished?

Sorry to hear that never came to be for the kids. We have pretty strict rules about wearing safty gear plus the design isn't anything too wild. I don't know what they call all the features but there are decent enough ramps and basins to keep them happy and like I said, well supervised. There has never been a problem
From what I've seen in NJ, Monmouth seems to have the most impressive parks and programs for kids and adults. There is even a park in Colts Neck designed especially for handicapped children and a very colorful water section as well.
