First of all, I'm convinced that Little Nicky is actually John Corzine in disguise. From another board you quickly learn "Nicky has the inside scoop" on this kind of thing.
Secondly, although I could care less about Wal-Mart, did you catch the part about WHITE CASTLE?
NOW WE'RE TALKING PROGRESS!
;)

If I'm not mistaking, didn't someone on this board say that upscale stores increase property value? If thats true the opposite must hold true as well to balance out that affect. So if White Castle moves in, do all the property values go down? Do a bunch of stoners move into Stewartsville?
Also when I think of White Castle, I always think of Doogie Howser. Anyone else get that vision in their head?

What are you saying? White Castle isn't Upscale?
Puh-lease... ;)

White Castle is the epitome of grandeur. I can't go there without thinking of Schloss Neuschwanstein. I think of Windsor. I think of Caernarfon. I think of back when I was 18 years old and stuffed 18 White Castle hamburgers down my esophagus.

Coincidentally, I happened to be near a White Castle this weekend. First time I had been hungry and close to one at the same time in, like, 5 years. They are currently selling Jalapeno Cheeseburgers. I got a double - just one double, because I was afraid I'd lose control. Wise choice.
It was fantastic. I could have EASILY eaten many more, if I hadn't already driven away.
A WC at Laneco could be a real challenge to my waistline. OTOH, it could be viewed as "urban renewal" if the McDonalds opens with that same crew. We've spoken about them before. If a WC opens with any crew smarter/cleaner than a labrador retriever, that McDonald's is toast...

Bring back Marbles in Laneco. That was a fun bar. No libtards ever dared entering there! :D

Thank God - that plaza has been an eyesore for so long. Even when it was utilized... the tenants weren't exactly top-of-the-line.... Laneco (enough said), Marbles Lounge (total dump), Local video store which was mostly all adult video (XXX), etc etc.
That loc has been an embarrasement for a long long time. 50,000 cars a day drive by that place and get an up-close-and-personal look at neglect. 3 Cheers for the developer who is stepping up and remedying a mess !

A white castle gross!
I would rather strave myself. Oh great super walmart coming in.
I don't think we need a superwall mart...
Time to get out!

kappy: Couldn't agree with you more. White Castle is terrific if your looking for an express package to an angioplasty. The epitome of fast food horror show --- the posterchild of transfats. Those sliders do taste great after 10 + beers.
Superwalmart --as I tell everyone... whenever I feel like my career or money situation is working ... I visit Walmart and walk around and look at everyone in there.. boy does that do alot for the old self-image.

Personally, I am ECSTATIC that White Castle is coming to the area. I am really getting tired of going all the way to Piscataway to bring some burgers to my nice up-scale home in Greenwich... :P

Great, just what we needed another trashy low class store and fast food place.
Can we just get some normal shops and restaurants, i am not asking for a Neiman Marcus but come on at least a MACYS or Better dining alternatives, like the Maccaroni Grill or Cheesecake Factory. Just more normal.

What kind of market would Macy’s have to look forward to seeing here? Would a Macy’s be filled every day with people shopping like a Super Wal-Mart ? People around here are working people and they need stuff that Wal-Mart sells. Macy’s isn’t going to build a store around here just so you can go there and window shop to boost your ego. :!:

Better dining alternatives, like the Maccaroni Grill or Cheesecake Factory
I wish more dining would open, too, but something beyond the chain restaurants.

A big part of the problem is that the chains are often the only ones who can afford the costs on the major roads.
There are several restaurants out along Rt. 57 towards Washington, and many in P'Burg.
Have you tried the Warrenside Tavern? It's not a "bar". It's often packed with people having dinner.
Also look here:

and here:

Now you have scads of listings.
Hope this helps.

Little Nicky, (hum, i wonder why you have such a name  ) Boost my ego, you dumb *%^&, I don't window shop first of all, I prefer to buy nice things that walmart can't offer. All i was trying to say is that we have enough average shops and maybe a different, better department store would be nice to have instead of having to drive 1/2 hour. I love Target but that doesn't mean we shouldn't have better shops in the area. I feel like i am in the twightlight zone here. People please get a grip.

Janie, maybe you and Lily should get together and open your own high end boutique. You both seem to be so concerned about the area.

Oooh, good one.
Actually, we could use a high-end store here. Just in case you want to buy something for the Queen of Sheeba.
Imagine... Warren County, high end!
People from Upper Montclair would wet their pants laughing.
What would they sell, silver plated shovels?

The reason we don't see any of those is NJ's stupid liquor laws. They only issue new licenses for every 3,000 people... so basically until our area gets more residents.... no new licenses are issued... therefore no restuarants like the ones you listed are coming. If the idiots in Trenton would actually grow a brain and repeal the "package goods law".... all kinds of the restarants would arrive. To my knowledge the only license that may be available is the one Center Point Bar and Liquors used to have. That place used to be a nice restaurant, then was converted into retail sales only. Now that its been shut down for 6 months..... that license maybe available for sale. Understanding how these licenses all get bid out (what a shocker )... probably $100,000 just for the license.
Until then... we all get to deal with BYOB nonsense.

Horrors - a restaurant without a liquor license. How will the kiddies and I survive?
