I've used Esposito's for mower repair before and thought that though their prices were high, their work was fine and they were convenient.
Last Week I took my tractor in to replace the steering linkage. I was told the job would cost me "no more than $150." I said "fine, just give me a call if it is more". Today I picked it up and was charged over 50% more ($230). When I asked why so much, I was told a deck bracket needed to be welded. I knew about this "problem" before I took the mower in and it was fine they way it was. I understand that hidden problems can arise, but I specifically asked to be notified before the work was done. Needless to say, I did not get the call I requested. |

Did you discuss this with the owner and tell him you didn't authorize that other repair and that you will not be paying for it? Before you bash any business, please try do do the right think and discuss it reasonably with them before throwing them under the bus.

Okay then. I guess you'll get things in writing next time. Never take the verbal offer.

Having owned our own lawn business prior to moving out here we are well versed in tractor/mower repairs. We have used Esposito's and continue to do so (for a very old mower). They have been more than fair and unbelievably reasonable with prices.

The original author most likely made this story up. Who would change steering linkage for only $150. The parts would have to cost more then that. Even if it was $230 still a bargain. The numbers seem to low.

I've used Esposito's for blade sharpening and an occasional belt and have always found them pleasant and reasonable.
