Concerned,
From all of your posts about the budget not passing, to this thread, it seems like you are upset that we just are not impressed that you are a teacher? Again, your job is no more special than any other job. GA |

OMG Rinker...you nailed it! They are like schoolyard bullies, trying to pick a fight. Let's agree to not engage and let them show their ignorance to the forum! They don't understand plain English...if GA actually read my posts he would see that I don't want him impressed with me, just to leave the teachers alone to do their jobs, jobs they obviously don't want. We work hard, pay taxes, don't ask for applause at the end of each work day or require a huge paycheck to do it.
Neanderthals....

Nothing like two State workers patting each other on the back.
You keep stating that you pay taxes, but you only pay in a fraction of what you put in. You posted over and over that you make 53K per year. If you pay 7k in property taxes 65% of that goes to the school. That’s 4.55K you pay towards your salary leaving the township with a 48.45K liability. This means it will take 10 people working in the private sector to pay for you. That doesn’t even include your benefits. With your benefits it takes 15 people working in the private sector to pay for you. This is unsustainable. The whole system needs to be privatized with non-union employees . |

Someone pays your salary, I am sure the job you do does not generate your entire salary and benefits....no one "sustains" themselves,.. unless you are a hermit (oh, maybe that's why you call yourself Grizzly Adams!) What does a police officer make and pay in taxes, or the TC members salary benefit package, or how about fire departments like in NYC? Really, griz, that was a dumb comment.
Good idea....privatize education, then only the wealthy children can be educated. If we lose a generation of children because no one believes in equal education for all kids, it is our country that suffers. Poverty is reason number one when it comes to children not getting an education. Using your numbers you pay just under 3K for your child's education....no matter how many you have. Try to find a private school for that price. If a tax structure is not in place (as the right to an education has been in place for hundreds of years), then we are doomed to third world status where the only education is private pay. Do a little research before you come up with stupid ideas. In countries that are far superior to us with regard to technology, science and industry, the education of children is protected, some through college. How would you like living in one of those countries....college paid through taxes, too. Since you are chock full of ideas, why aren't you running for office, BOE, TC or anything else? One again...complain, complain, complain and do nothing to fix the problem. If you aren't part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. What did that 2nd grade teacher say to you that made you so angry at us? Or was it the football coach who wouldn't start you? |

Oh, before you jump on it...I meant to say just under 4K. Still a bargain....price out Beca....5K per kid. What if you have 3 kids? 15K? (Oh gosh, that's less than what you pay in taxes!) That's what private education would cost....we have working models already in place and those teachers work at poverty levels already.

I do take exception with people bashing other people because of their chosen profession. I do take exception with people who think that because they listen to NJ101.5 they know the full story. I do take exception with people who make comments yet do not try to educate themselves in the limitations of the people they are bashing. I have been directed to waste more money for some politicians wet dream of a pet project because they know it will get them votes then how beneficial it will be to the general population. In the Town I work our roads have patches on top of patches yet we insisted on refurbishing a pond, rebuilding tennis courts, replacing existing backstops, because recreation is king in my town. I understand the anger, trust me I feel it also. The union should have taken a pay freeze for this year, I also understand why there is resistance to it, because once you open your contract you set the precedence to open it again at the whim for whatever contrived reason some politician can come up with. If your going to be angry place you anger where it belongs, Gov. Whitman for borrowing against the pension system to provide everybody tax cuts that were unsustainable, then failing to fund the system as required by the agreement she made with the Union. The Board of Educations statewide for allowing salary increases that were unsustainable, Judges who do not follow the law and let teachers strike, when they are prohibited by law to do so, and not holding accountable the people who lead these strikes. The local politicians for thinking of the next vote to stay in office as opposed to doing what is bet for everybody in the community, Arbitrators who have been handing out exorbitant raises of 4% or more without any thought if the raises were sustainable during all economic times, And the State Legislature who abdicated their responsibility and spent like they had a money making press in the basement of the State House giving money away instead of preparing for the bad economic that were sure to come. Direct you anger there not at the person who has no control over the decision making responsibilities. There is were you anger should be directed, start going to Township meetings and Board of Ed meeting and make it known that your not going to put up with it any more. I work in a town with a population of 15k we get on average 5 members of the public showing up at our meeting 2 of which are reporters. If your going to get angry maybe some people should start by looking in the mirror for abdicating their responsibilities has a citizen to the community has a whole. Stop your bitching people and start showing some responsibility and take an active part in your community and start holding the people you elect to office accountable for their actions. And for the record I am as much in fault as everybody else, I deal with stupid politicians all day long the last thing I want to do is due it voluntarily. So yes I am at fault also.

I refer to anyone on the public dole as a state worker or state ‘vor-ker’. One way or another, you all come out of the same barrel. At the end of the day, you all look forward to going home to see your portrait of Karl Marx you keep tucked away behind your refrigerator.
